Building fitness programs for old busy dads like me!

I’ve spent 15 years finding motivation and consistency to stay active and healthy. Gym rat—Been there, done that. Half-marathon runner every other weekend—Dropped it after six months, then tried again years later and hated it. I went all-in on calisthenics for a while, and got that out of my system too.

I’ve worked demanding jobs in office, hybrid, and fully remote settings. I’ve been a dad for over a decade, and now that my kids are in sports, I’m often pulled into volunteer coaching. More of my time taken up. So how do I find the time to stay in shape? That’s the easy part. The hard part is staying motivated and consistent. It doesn’t matter how quick or simple the workouts are—they’re still easy to kick aside on a mentally and physically exhausting day.

But today, I can honestly say that fitness is more than a habit for me—it’s a way of life. And there’s no magic to it. You can try any routines, any workouts. It doesn’t matter, they all work. The real, tried-and-true ingredient is consistency. Consistency creates habits, and habits lead to true lifestyle changes. That’s the mindset: it’s about creating a lifestyle change.

Of course, consistency isn’t the only thing you need. Motivation is essential too, and that’s why trainers are valuable. Not because they have “magic” programs—those can be found all over the internet, sometimes for free. Even AI can now generate “custom” plans for cheap. Trainers make a difference because they provide accountability. They help you make healthy choices and give you that push to keep going. People pay for that—accountability as a commodity. If we could all easily find it within ourselves, there wouldn’t be a market for trainers.

So here’s my point: staying active and healthy with a busy life is tough. I struggled with consistency and motivation for years, but I believe my journey can translate into specialized (not magic) programs for people like me—folks entering a stage of life where health choices matter more and are harder to reverse. We’re past the “invincible” years of our 20s and 30s.

Currently I am working on some programs to test out. Feel free to subscribe below to stay tuned as things progress!
